Amazing Grace:
The True Story

The Epic Saga Based on the
Life of John Newton

In Concert

Tuesday, April 7, 2009
Wednesday, April 8, 2009
8:00pm - $30.00*

Broadway stars bring the music of the new Broadway-bound musical Amazing Grace: The True Story to the Sellersville Theatre. Adam Jacobs (recent star of Les Miserables on Broadway) leads a cast of Broadway veterans and Bucks County performers in this concert version featuring selections from the musical crafted by Bucks' own Christopher Smith.

Amazing Grace: The True Story is an original musical about the life and trials of John Newton, the former slave-trader who authored one of the world's most recognized songs. Though the words and music of Amazing Grace are instantly recognized, few understand the events and personalities which shaped this stirring piece of testimony and self-examination. Amazing Grace: The True Story traces the life of the adventurous, but emotionally tortured Englishman and follows him through the trials, storms and battles he experienced in the 1740s. His journey to find the meaning of his own existence led him to love, heartbreak and through the physical and spiritual perils of the Atlantic slave trade.

When last performed (for a standing-room only crowd in 2007) the audience response was overwhelming as the power of the story and the music touched hearts and souls.
